If a duplicate case is created in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), you can troubleshoot to identify how the duplicate case was created. In Case Details, you can see the case created date, created by user, and trigger method. This assists in determining how the case was created and who created it, providing a training opportunity.
Note
In late spring to early summer 2020, duplicate cases were triggered when completing the ICD-10 workflow. This was corrected. You must process these cases as duplicates to ensure an accurate case list.
To avoid creating duplicate cases, you are prompted to attach documentation to an existing case when entering an ICD-10 code, creating an anti-infective order, or completing an Infection Screening Evaluation or Respiratory Infection Screener assessment. Existing cases in the following statuses appear.
