Electronically Receiving Orders
Procedure
- Ensure the scanner is plugged into your computer and calibrated OR Click RCV next to the resident name.
- From within the Pharmacy Orders tab in the Orders Portal in the PointClickCare application or eMAR - Quick Supply Management Box Receive Supply/Medicationand Match to Order(s) is selected in the Quick Supply Management window.

- Place your cursor in the scan supply field within the Quick Supply Management box.
- Scan barcode or enter the RX number on the medication label.
- After you verify that all supplies listed in the window match what was sent in the tote, select Receive Supplies.
- If supplies match orders exactly, it is automatically linked. The orders in the listing that are exact matches are removed from the list. The number of orders in the upper right portion of the screen updates.
- Do one of the following:
- If there are multiple potential matches to orders in the resident's chart, a window appears showing the supply received from pharmacy and the potential matches listed below.
- If the correct match is listed, select the medication by placing a check mark in the box and select Link to Order(s).
- If the match for your Orders is not listed under Potential Matches, select View other pharmacy orders. Find the appropriate medication that matches the supply and link the medication.
- If the correct match is not found, select Mark for Follow-up or Mark for Return for the facility designee to review. Or follow the steps listed in Reviewing Medications in the Follow-up tab to troubleshoot the supply immediately.
Hints and tips
- Medications/supplies may be received from the application or from eMAR simply click on the link.
OR
- Sometimes several bar codes appear on the medication label. Scan the one that is closest to the resident's name and Prescription number.
- If unable to scan the supply bar code, manually enter the Rx# or Bar code# in the field provided.
- Manually receive an integrated order from the Waiting to be Received tab by clicking rcv next to the order.
- A potential match is a medication in which the supply matches the PointClickCare Order ID or is in the same drug class of the Resident's orders listed.
- Use Display Filters to view medications that have not been electronically received for more than 72 hours.
