Communications Link - Overview

The Communications link in the Clinical Menu allows access to view Facility messages, access Facility Shift Reports and Summary Reports

  • The Message Board allows you to post messages that should be shared amongst Clinical staff. This message board is different from the General Message Board located on the Home tab as this one is only viewable by those staff with security access to this area. Because this area is not viewable by all, it is acceptable to post resident-specific information in this area.This DOES NOT replace a verbal shift to shift report and room to room walk around with next nurse.
  • To create a new message box , click on the new button. This will open an new window. Begin typing to document in this message board area. Always include Shift, Census, Resident name and short description of the information needed to be shared with the other shifts/disciplines. When two nurses are working the same unit, they should document in the same box. 

24 Hour Report/Shift Reports

  • Shift Reports -Select the link of the desired shift to view the items designated to appear on the shift report.
  • Summary Reports - Select the link of the desired report to show information in 24 hour reports.

Hints and Tips

  • The Shift and Summary Reports, when run from the Communications area, show report information for your entire facility. Filterable reports are available from the Clinical > Reports menu as well as the Clinical > Dashboard area.
  • Note that the Shift report is automatically generated to show the information from the most recently completed shift selected. If you choose 'Day Shift' during the current day shift, you see information from the day shift on the day before. Choose Current Shift to see the information from the current shift.
  • You can also generate Shift and 24 hour reports from the Reports Menu
  • Shift and 24 Hour Reports can also be generated from the Reports list found at the top of the Clinical Dashboard to the right of the Primary Physician field. When generating from here, these reports can be filtered based on the Clinical Dashboard filters for Unit, Floor and Primary Physician.
  • Information is designated to be included in the shift and 24 hour reports from Clinical Setup within General Configuration, Progress Note and UDA Setup. Also, a user can designate a progress note to be included in the shift and/or 24 hour reports at the time of progress note creation.
  • Setup items designated as '24 hour report' appear on the 24 hour report and the 72 hour report. The 72 hour report is a compilation of the last 3 days worth of 24 hour reports.
