Reset MDS Admission Date Resetting the MDS Admission Date will reset the Admission Date that
the MDS OBRA Scheduler uses to calculate the comprehensive and quarterly MDS 3.0 assessment
schedules.
The MDS Admission Date should only be reset if this admission is considered a new admission as
defined by CMS for MDS 3.0: the resident is returning after being discharged with a return not
anticipated, or is returning after a discharge return anticipated more than 30 days ago.

MDS Admission Date is defined as:
- First admission to the facility, OR
- First re-admission since the last Discharge Return Not Anticipated, OR
- First re-admission since the last Discharge Return Anticipated that was greater than
30 days ago, OR - First re-admission since the last Discharge Return Anticipated, AND resident was
discharged prior to completion of the OBRA Admission assessment.- In this situation, this date must be reset in the MDS Module to the most
recent re-entry date and the facility must consider the resident a new
admission for MDS purposes.
